Short Pattern Stub End

Short Pattern Stub End - Butt-Weld Pipe Fitting

A short pattern stub end offers a more compact profile for installations where space is at a premium. It retains full integrity with the lap joint flange while reducing the overall footprint and material requirement. Manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9, the short pattern is the standard choice for general-duty lap joint connections where the extended body of the long pattern is not needed.

Each stub end is bevelled to ASME B16.25 for full-penetration butt welding and supplied with heat numbers and material test certificates for complete traceability throughout the supply chain.

Standards & Materials

Manufactured in accordance with BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 in carbon and stainless steel grades for UK process, utility and skid-mounted pipework.

Performance & Benefits

The reduced body length of a short pattern stub end saves material and minimises the overall joint envelope, which is critical in confined spaces and modular skid assemblies. Despite the compact profile, the fitting provides the same lap-face sealing performance and pressure rating as the long pattern. The shorter stub also reduces weight at the joint, lowering support requirements on the piping system.

Typical Applications

Ideal for confined pipe runs and skid-mounted plant across the UK where a reduced body length helps to keep the overall envelope tight. Commonly specified in modular process skids, building-services risers, compact heat exchanger assemblies, containerised water-treatment units and any application where space and weight are at a premium.

Quality Assurance & Traceability

Every fitting is manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 and supplied with full material traceability and EN 10204 Type 3.1 test certificates. Heat numbers are recorded throughout production to support inspection, QA and UK project-compliance requirements.

Supply & Delivery

Stocked at our Sheffield, UK facility and delivered nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. We offer fast dispatch from stock with tracked UK delivery to site, and next-day options for common sizes.

  • Which sizes and schedules are available?

Available from ½" (DN15) to 24" (DN600) in schedule 10, 40 and 80, in both metric and imperial sizes to suit UK installations.

  • Can you provide material certificates?

Yes. Material test certificates and full traceability documentation are available with every order, to project and quality-management requirements.

  • Which pattern is better for my installation?

Choose short pattern where space is limited and the weld can be made with standard equipment. Select long pattern where additional clearance is needed for welding access, orbital welding machines or where the extra body length is beneficial as a heat sink for thick-wall pipe. If in doubt, contact our technical team for guidance.

  • Do you deliver across the UK?

We deliver nationwide throughout England, Scotland and Wales, with fast dispatch from stock and tracked deliveries to site.
