45° Elbow

Butt-Weld Fitting

45° Elbow

45° Elbow - Butt-Weld Pipe Fitting

Our 45° butt-weld elbow creates a gentle 45-degree change in flow direction with minimal turbulence and pressure loss. The shallow angle produces a smooth transition that reduces erosion on the pipe wall, making it the preferred choice for long transmission lines, gravity-drained systems and any service where hydraulic efficiency is critical.

Every elbow is supplied with factory-machined weld-end bevels to ASME B16.25 for full-penetration butt welding. Full heat-number traceability and EN 10204 3.1 material test certificates are available to satisfy UK site quality requirements.

Standards & Materials

Manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 in a choice of carbon and stainless steel grades to suit your operating conditions.

Performance & Benefits

The 45° deflection angle generates roughly half the pressure drop of a standard 90° elbow, lowering pumping energy and reducing erosion in abrasive services. Its smooth, gradual bend also minimises turbulence at the weld toe, extending the fatigue life of the joint and reducing vibration-induced noise in long pipe runs.

Typical Applications

Widely specified for bulk material handling, slurry and dredge lines, drainage and vent systems, water distribution networks and energy installations across the UK where an efficient, low-loss directional change is required.

Quality Assurance & Traceability

Every fitting is manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 and supplied with full material traceability and EN 10204 Type 3.1 test certificates. Heat numbers are recorded throughout production to support inspection, QA and UK project-compliance requirements.

Supply & Delivery

Stocked at our Sheffield, UK facility and delivered nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. We offer fast dispatch from stock with tracked UK delivery to site, and next-day options for common sizes.

  • Which sizes and schedules are available?

Available from 1/2" (DN15) to 24" (DN600) in schedule 10, 40 and 80, in both metric and imperial sizes to suit UK installations.

  • Why choose a 45° elbow instead of a 90° elbow?

A 45° elbow deflects flow through a smaller angle, producing significantly less pressure drop and turbulence than a 90° bend. This makes it ideal for long pipe runs, gravity-drained lines and services carrying abrasive media where lower velocity impact extends component life. Two 45° elbows can also be combined to achieve an offset without the sharper directional change of a single 90° fitting.

  • Can you provide material certificates?

Yes. Material test certificates and full traceability documentation are available with every order, to project and quality-management requirements.

  • Do you deliver across the UK?

We deliver nationwide throughout England, Scotland and Wales, with fast dispatch from stock and tracked deliveries to site.
