Reducing Elbow - Butt-Weld Pipe Fitting
Our reducing butt-weld elbow combines a directional change with a size reduction in a single fitting, eliminating the need for a separate reducer and an additional weld joint. This saves fabrication time, reduces material cost and produces a more compact, leak-tight assembly ideal for space-constrained plant environments.
Reducing elbows are supplied with factory-prepared weld-end bevels to BS EN 10253 or ASME B16.25 on both the inlet and outlet, ready for full-penetration butt welding. Full material traceability is maintained throughout, with heat numbers and material test certificates provided for every order.
Standards & Materials
Reducing elbows are manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 in carbon steel ASTM A234 WPB and stainless steel grades 304/304L and 316/316L. Both 90-degree and 45-degree reducing elbows are stocked in the most common inlet-outlet combinations.

Performance & Benefits
By combining a direction change and size reduction in one fitting, reducing elbows eliminate two potential leak paths (the separate reducer weld and the standard elbow weld), reduce overall spool-piece length and lower on-site labour costs. The smooth internal transition also provides better flow characteristics than a reducer followed by a standard elbow, with lower turbulence and pressure drop through the fitting.

Specified in compact process skids, pump suction and discharge connections, plant pipework and instrumentation lines across the UK wherever both a change of direction and a reduction in bore are required within a confined footprint.
