Butt-Weld Fitting
Our 180° butt-weld return bend reverses the direction of a pipe run by a full 180 degrees within a single fitting. It provides a compact, low-weld alternative to two separate 90° elbows and is essential for heat exchanger tube bundles, fired heater coils and hairpin circuit layouts where space is at a premium.
Each return bend is supplied with factory-machined weld-end bevels to ASME B16.25 for full-penetration butt welding. Full heat-number traceability and EN 10204 3.1 material test certificates are available to satisfy UK site quality requirements.
Manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 in a choice of carbon and stainless steel grades to suit your operating pressure and temperature.

A single 180° return bend replaces two 90° elbows and a connecting pipe spool, eliminating at least two butt welds. This reduces on-site welding time, lowers NDT inspection costs and shrinks the overall envelope of coil circuits. The smooth, continuous radius also maintains uniform flow velocity through the bend, minimising turbulence-induced vibration and erosion.
Commonly specified for petrochemical furnaces, boiler economisers, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, coil circuits and HVAC chiller assemblies across the UK where flow must be reversed efficiently within a compact footprint.
Every fitting is manufactured to BS EN 10253-2 and ASME B16.9 and supplied with full material traceability and EN 10204 Type 3.1 test certificates. Heat numbers are recorded throughout production to support inspection, QA and UK project-compliance requirements.
Stocked at our Sheffield, UK facility and delivered nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. We offer fast dispatch from stock with tracked UK delivery to site, and next-day options for common sizes.
Available from 1/2" (DN15) to 24" (DN600) in schedule 10, 40 and 80, in both metric and imperial sizes to suit UK installations.
Yes. A single 180° return bend occupies roughly half the linear footprint of two 90° elbows with an intermediate pipe spool. It also removes two butt welds, reducing fabrication time, NDT costs and potential leak paths in the assembly.
Yes. Material test certificates and full traceability documentation are available with every order, to project and quality-management requirements.
